This four-year-old little kids speech on reading will have you running to the nearest library.
We always try to get our kids to read, and they eagerly read everything they can get their hands onto. It wasn’t without a lot of effort, taking them to the library more times than I can remember when they were first able to understand what a book was, the feeling of checking books and toys out and returning them for something equally as thrilling. To having arguments over how many books we can read at bedtime (It’s been settled on three, and they always pick the longest ones) and sit around just reading by themselves when they are bored. We feel like we’re doing a great job at getting them to explore different worlds, characters, and an imagination that isn’t possible without books to guide you there.
One little toddler took it to inspiring levels – with one powerful message for kids about reading, to ‘not be afraid’ of books, and his love of reading. This little kids speech is powerful, motivational, and all around heartwarming.
Caleb Stewart, who stands on a table because he is just that tiny and adorable, gets the crowd enchanted, that you’ll run out to the nearest book store and gobble everything up after watching this.
“Although books are excellent tools for reading,” he says, “kids should be encouraged to cultivate their imagination and find other materials such as newspapers, magazines, restaurant menus, or maybe even billboards riding down the highway.”
This little kid’s speech proves a point though, and he is right, why stop at books? There are words everywhere. Just how playing ‘I Spy’ was replaced with the iPad for a long car journey, don’t stop looking, reading, expanding your knowledge and thirst for the unknown. There’s no reason why our kids can’t help read the cereal box in the morning or help us read the mail, constantly developing and expanding their vocabulary.
