This Mom’s Hilarious Poem About Daddy Sleeping Is How All Of US Feel

by | February 25, 2019

A mom’s hilarious poem about daddy sleeping is going viral right now because it is how all the moms feel being the captain of the parenting ship…

If there’s one thing that drove me absolutely bananas when my daughter was an infant, it was the fact that my partner seemed to be able to sleep through anything. There could’ve been a magnitude eight earthquake directly under the bed, and he’s still be laying there snoring like a combine harvester.

I nursed and co-slept with my daughter, so I really didn’t sleep properly for a good two years. Any slight movement she made woke me. There was a time frame of about six months where I didn’t even wear a shirt or a bra to bed, in the hopes that she’d just latch herself on. Don’t get me wrong, my partner was very helpful when he woke up. There were countless nights that he’d pace up and down our bedroom floor hushing and shushing our sweet daughter so that I could get a break. I really appreciated that because he did have to be up at a crazy time in the morning to go work a exhausting and laborious job in order to afford me the opportunity to stay home with the kids.

But, there was just something about the sounds of his snores that enraged me. Oh the unfairness of it all, I would think. He gets to go off out to work, speak with other adults, he gets to keep his nipples chap-free, and he gets to sleep a hell of a lot more than me.

Having a newborn is tough on both parents, but mothers definitely seem to take the brunt of the night-work, especially if their nursing. One mom, named Caroline Olling Andersen wrote a hilarious seven-verse poem titled “Daddy’s Asleep” and the public reaction to it motivated her to start a facebook moms page, The Mommy Poet.

I think she pretty much sums it up, don’t you? This Mom’s hilarious poem about daddy sleeping sure is relatable af!
