Vegan Hot Cross Buns Launch At Greggs For Easter
UK bakery chain Greggs has added hot cross buns to its vegan range.
The plant-based buns will be on sale for a limited time only over the Easter holidays, and will cost £1 for a pack of four.
“We are working away to see if we can come up with a version of all our bestselling lines because people want vegan options,” said Roger Whiteside, Greggs chief executive.
“If we can produce something that tastes just as good as the meat version, then that will sell very successfully. That’s what’s been shown with the vegan sausage roll.”

Greggs Vegan Success
The bakery chain reported a sales boom last year that all started with the popular plant-based sausage roll.
Donuts and a steak bake were later added to the animal-friendly range, with a meat-free chicken product also said to be in development.
Due to the boost in sales last year — driven by the new sausage roll — Greggs’ 25,000 employees enjoyed a £7 million bonus shared between them.
