Vegan Kat Von D Donates Tattoo Shop Gloves Amid COVID-19 Supply Shortage

Vegan celebrity and business mogul Kat Von D has announced that her tattoo shop has donated all of its gloves and aprons to LA County Hospital in the face of a supply shortage sparked by the coronavirus pandemic.

Von D took to Instagram to announce the move.

“Today, my tattoo shop @highvoltagetat donated our entire inventory of unopened gloves and aprons to the nurses and doctors of the LA County Hospital,” the post reads.

Panic Buying & COVID-19

Von D went on to call attention to the issue of unnecessary product hoarding amid the coronavirus crisis.

“We only had 8,000 gloves, and 500 of our medical grade aprons,” she wrote. “But due to the unnecessary hoarding of medical supplies taking place by relatively healthy, yet panicked citizens, this type of hoarding has created massive shortages in hospitals leaving doctors, nurses and health workers dangerously ill-equipped to take care of patients and protect themselves.”

She went on to say that the post was not intended to be self congratulatory, but to inspire other tattoo shops to do the same — and to prompt shoppers to think twice before buying products they may not need.
