Vegan Simon Cowell Helps To Rescue 200 Dogs From South Korean Dog Meat Farm

Music industry icon Simon Cowell has helped to rescue over 200 dogs from a dog meat farm in South Korea.

Cowell made a generous donation to Humane Society International (HSI) to help the group rescue the dogs.

The record executive — who went vegan in 2019 — recently appeared on UK TV show Good Morning Britain to meet one of the dogs he helped to rescue.

“Dogs Will Give Up Their Lives For You”

Speaking on the show, Cowell said, “It is important because without people like you (HSI), he’d basically be in someone’s stomach.”

“Dogs will give up their lives for you,” Cowell added, “They really would…and they’ll look after your kids, they put their lives in front of your kids. I’ve seen it with my dogs, and my dogs are tiny. So what you do is so important, bless you.”

Simon Cowell Dog Rescue

Cowell has been adopting dogs since 2015, and once claimed he will clone his animals when they get old as he can’t bear to be without them.

His donation to HSI— for an undisclosed amount — will now help the rescused South Korean dogs to find homes.

“It’s Possible To End This Cruel Trade”

“Simon’s generous donation helped us save Robin and all the dogs languishing on the meat farm,” said Wendy Higgins, a spokesperson for HSI, in an email to Raise Vegan.

“We found them in the most appalling conditions, stuck in barren, rusty wire cages, and many of them were really suffering.  With every dog farm we close and every farmer we help switch to a more profitable, humane business, we’re demonstrating to the South Korean government that it’s possible to end this cruel trade.”

“Most people in South Korea don’t eat dogs, and there are increasingly vocal calls in the country for an end to this brutal industry.”
