On Monday, peta2, the youth animal rights group and the subset of PETA released their 5th annual survey of university dining options and found that two-thirds of colleges in the US are now offering vegan meals on campus, according to their Vegan Report Card.
For their report, the organization surveyed over 1,400 campus dining programs at colleges and universities all across America, and they found that overall there was an increase in on-campus vegan options, which suggests that more colleges are integrating vegan offerings into their dining programs.
University Of North Texas
The University of North Texas (UNT) has a 100% vegan dining hall on campus and has been ranked by PETA2 as one of the A-plus vegan-friendly colleges for the last five years in a row.
Northwestern University, Illinois
Northwestern University (NU) has a ‘Meatless Mondays‘ campaign across the campus and each dining hall offers a vegan option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The majority of the food options available on campus are also sourced from local farms in the Midwest to try and reduce waste and conserve energy and water.
University of California, San Diego
The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is home to the vegan restaurant Roots, along with a number of other food markets, dining halls, cafes, and pubs making it easier than ever for vegans and vegetarians to eat on, or near campus.
Wake Forest University, North Carolina
In March 2017, Wake Forest University (WFU) rolled out an all-vegan dining station, and according to peta2, it has a 100% satisfaction rate among its students. They even offer the Beyond Burger!
Arizona State University, Arizona
Arizona State University (ASU) has a dedicated vegan dining section in all of its dining halls across all four campuses. this is definitely one of the vegan-friendly colleges to check out if you love the heat and vegan food.
Stanford University, California
Stanford University (SU) has paired with The Culinary Institute of America to co-found the Menus of Change University Research Collaborative, which looks to promote “healthier, more sustainable, plant-forward diets” on college campuses across the US. According to their website, the college menus are 80% vegetarian and over 50% vegan.
University of Florida
The University of Florida (UF) also takes part in ‘Meatless Mondays’ and even has a 10-page vegan handbook so their vegan students have a lot of options to choose Vegan-Friendly!
