Are organic foods better for my health? Or is it all just a myth?

I believe you have heard or read that organic plant-based food is healthier to eat. The growing public attention to organic plant foods with each passing day in the information age becomes even greater. So you might be asking are organic foods better for my health?

If you do not know how or if you are uncertain about whether it’s the right time to switch to organic plant foods, you may need to start researching and finding the right reasons why organic plant foods are better than conventional produce.

One of the most common questions asked is why are organic foods better?

It is very important to know that not just anyone can make organic foods. There are uncompromising quality standards.

Foods and food companies that are certified as organic, are subjected to extremely rigorous measures and must meet very high standards. When this is done, all foods should be stamped with a Certified Organic by a sticker or label. This certification helps to give much comfort in knowing that the foods that they eat are truly healthy.

Another one of the many reasons why organic plant food is better for you is because it usually tastes better. There have been more studies of the organoleptic quality of organic and conventional plant-based food than any other foods. The results consistently show enhanced organoleptic quality in organic plant-based food.

In spite of the fact that there are a number of proven benefits to eating organic foods, many individuals are concerned with the cost. Yes, organic food does cost more money, but many still ask themselves if it is even possible to put a price tag on health.

With the constant change and the rapid progress of food technology, organically-grown foodstuffs prefer more than conventional production due to the use of fertilizers and pesticides. The public discussion and opposition to organically produced versus conventional crop production existed from the very beginning. Backers of organic farming say that chemical pesticides are so harmful and dangerous that they can lead to deadly consequences.

In the power struggle between food businesses, the ordinary citizen of this planet, right in front of a paradox, finds himself in a barrage of information, which is better, organically produced plant food or conventional food, whether organic products are safer and more environmentally friendly than conventional plants, whether it’s worth spending more on buying organically-grown food, are organic foods better for my health?

Scientist and researchers worry that increased consumer demand for organic food may lead to larger farms, lowered standards for organic produce, and poorer working conditions for organic farmers. It is true that many of such chemicals are found in the vegetables and fruits that are bought from the market.

Of a sample size of 13,208 of conventional produce tested by the US Dept of Agriculture, 76 percent of the fresh vegetable and fruit samples tested were found to contain detectable residues of chemicals as against just 23 percent for organically grown produce. Research by food scientist Chensheng Lu of Emory University showed that urine samples from a group of preschool children being studied for pesticide consumption in food showed one child with no detectable levels of organophosphates, a class of common pesticides. Following up on the research the scientist found that the parents of the child served only organic food, none other, at home. This made him go for another experiment of 23 children, who ate conventional food. They were later switched for five days totally to organic foods including vegetables, juices, pasta, chips, cereals etc.

The results proved conclusively that while on conventional diets the children measured positive to organophosphate pesticides in their urine, but within a day of switching to organic foods the pesticide levels became undetectable and rose again when the children switched back to conventional diets.
