Brian May Has Gone Vegan For Veganuary And Instagram Is Loving It

by | January 13, 2020

Legendary Queen guitarist Brian May has embraced the Veganuary challenge, and is sharing his vegan journey with his 2.1 million Instagram followers.

The musician has been posting photos of his homemade vegan meals alongside updates on his progress — racking up tens of thousands of likes on each post.

“We don’t usually feel the need for imitation meats” wrote May in an Instagram post, “we just love veg – and luckily for me my lovely wife loves cookin ’em! And there are so many to choose from these days.”

“One person going vegan for a month is a very small thing. But from small seeds big peaceful oak trees grow. Our grandchildren will need them.”

As well as talking about his Veganuary successes, May has also shared an insight into the temptations he has encountered during his month-long vegan pledge.

“Temptation, your name is Prawn…But I shall not give in! I guess everyone has a Bête Noire !! But my #veganuary shall not be tainted with a marine mortality” wrote the guitarist in an Instagram post.

May is a long-time vegetarian and is also an outspoken advocate for animal rights and the environment. Yesterday, on the twelfth day of Veganuary, he claimed to be “enjoying it more than ever.”

He has previously said that “the biggest wake-up call of all is to realize that Humans are NOT the only important species on this planet, NOT the only creatures that feel pleasure and pain, and NOT the only ones worthy of respect.”

In response to the current fire crisis in Australia, he is calling for people to “put pressure on our leaders to prioritize the health of our planet.”
