Queen Legend Brian May Will Wear Vegan Shoes for Upcoming Tour
Brian May, the lead guitarist for the rock band Queen, and a badger-hugging animal rights activist, just recently unveiled via Instagram a pair of vegan shoes that are designed in Italy that he will reportedly be wearing for his next tour. Brian has even shared a picture of himself wearing the shoes and I must say, it suits him well. Learn more here.

Brian May Set to Wear Vegan Shoes for His Next Trip

The animal rights activist and legendary lead guitarist of Queen has recently shared on an Instagram post about a pair of Italy-designed, £220 shoes that are made of no animal-based material, thereby making it environmental-friendly. According to his Instagram post, the legendary guitarist has worn Adidas and Nike trainers on stage for the last 34 years, dating back to the band’s iconic 1985 Aid performance. He said that now he plans to move on from such shoes and adopt the new vegan and eco-friendly Yatay’s, which he first tried at the February Oscars ceremony.
The animal rights activist and musician thanked the manufacturers for sending him the pair of “fabulous VEGAN shoes.” May has campaigned against fox hunting and badger culling.
“I was getting fed up with trying to explain why an animal campaigner would be wearing skins of animals on his feet. I reasoned with myself that I needed to go with tradition – stick with what had been my habit ever since Live Aid,” he said.

“But…really there was no explanation. And vegan shoes were always uncomfortable – right? Well, I finally went for it for our opening blitz at the Oscars. I chose the brand new line of Yatay shoes – vegan, environmentally friendly, and comfortable. And also my conscience felt so much better,” wrote May on Instagram.
A PETA approved Vegan YATAY

Brian May wore the shoes of a luxurious Italian shoemaker. But that said, the company is ethical and knows the art of luxury without taking a toll on the planet and harmless animals, which is not often the case with luxury fashion brands. Featured in leading fashion magazines like GQ, the brand’s website states:
“At a time when fast shopping is just one click away, landfills are piling up with once loved items and huge quantities of fabric go irremediably wasted, we want to prove that shopping without hurting the environment is possible and as cool as ever.”
The company makes vegan and eco-friendly shoes and strives to reduce negative environmental impact from their data center. What is your say on Brian May’s new vegan shoes? Would you buy a pair of vegan sneakers from YATAY? Let me know in the comments.
