What is a Pregnancy Pillow?

A pregnancy pillow, also known as a maternity pillow, is a well-known and loved tool used by many pregnant women to help them be able to sleep comfortably. While pregnant, your body is under constant stress, notably in your back so sleeping can be uncomfortable with these new changes. There is a variety of different types of pillows and it’s actually fairly easy to DIY your own. Pregnancy pillows can easily be found in most major stores or online.

How Does it Help?

Using a body pillow during pregnancy has many benefits including increased comfort, better blood circulation, and even post delivery comfort. It’s usually recommended that while pregnant, you sleep on your left side as to help the pathway of blood and nutrients be open in order to better reach your placenta and baby.

If you are interested in buying a maternity pillow, there are a few things that you should keep in mind during your search including style, reviews, and price range. Styles of a pregnancy pillow include the classic full U shape, the C shape, the wedge, and a between the legs support pillow. Prices range anywhere from $17 on Wish to $100 on Amazon with a middle range of products being around or below $50.
