According to Duuo– who claims to represent the Barcelona lifestyle, their first-ever vegan-friendly footwear is the epitome of the ‘pro-nature and diverse,’ ‘cosmopolitan’ and ‘culturally lively’ identities of Barcelona. Now, the company is reportedly committed to becoming a 100% vegan brand.

The PETA-approved shoes are made for pre-order via Kickstarter. Featuring PET-derived reclaimed plastic bottles from the seabeds, Duuo says the plastic is used to make the ‘thread’ which is further used in making the footwear. The sneakers also feature a ‘cloth interior,’ non-slip and light ‘Eva’ sole, odorless and removable insoles, and are reportedly breathable as well.

According to the company’s Kickstarter campaign, Duuo has custom-crafted the vegan product inside-out. The company notes this is the first time they’ve used vegan raw material, and assure they will use the same in their future collections as well. Their Kickstarter limited-edition product is the brand’s ‘flagship for the change’– part of an initiative Duuo is undergoing. The company states this round of the limited-edition launch is ‘a turning point for the brand’ as they look forward to turning their ‘internal revolution’ (referring to the turning point) into the ‘revolution of empathy.’
