Get Yourself Down To O-Town, Orgasms During Pregnancy Are Intense

by | March 2, 2019

Yes, you read that right. Orgasms during pregnancy are intense! There’s no reason you should be shying away from getting a little naughty between the sheets.

Pregnancy can sometimes leave you feeling unsexy and awkward. The last thing you might want to do is to get down to O-town. Well, let me tell you, ladies, take a nice bath, light some candles and throw on your sexiest maternity lingerie (I really hope that’s a thing) and get yourself in the mood. Orgasms during pregnancy can be out of this world. So much so, that when I was pregnant, my partner was exhausted. “I’m not a machine, Julie,” he said to me at some point. I couldn’t get enough.

Orgasms are safe during a healthy pregnancy.

No matter how you achieve the orgasm, whether it be with your partner or a little bit of D.I.Y., even a sex toy is fine. The only reason a woman is advised to avoid orgasms during pregnancy is if she is at risk of placental bleeding, a premature birth, or having high multiples.

Orgasms during pregnancy are intense.

With all those hormones coursing around your body, especially oxytocin, orgasms during pregnancy can be some of the most intense you’ll ever feel. Oxytocin is known as the “love” hormone. Increased blood flow to your vagina makes everything much more sensitive. This can make reaching orgasm much easier and can even lead to multiple orgasms, in some lucky women. Your breasts will probably be more sensitive to touch, and during sexual arousal and orgasm, a few drops of milk may leak from the nipples.

Cramping after orgasm during pregnancy is perfectly normal.

It’s entirely normal to feel some cramping in the uterus after an orgasm. Just as you may feel like your toes curl, the muscles in the uterus cramp up after an orgasm. These happen when even when you’re not pregnant, you probably just don’t feel them.

Please call your healthcare practitioner if you have any bleeding after sex.
