I Know Why I Am Vegan, Glad That I Made The Right Choice For Right Reason
Just something that I saw the other day; might be normal for many but it made me even more determined to the cause. I know why I am vegan and glad that I made the right choice for the right reason.
My drive home from work is usually about twenty minutes. Every now and then though, I take a slightly longer, but more enjoyable route. While I find it for the most part quite a relaxing drive, there is one monstrous fly in the ointment – I have to pass a small rural slaughterhouse.

Most times I pass, I try not to glance at the waiting pen at the side of the building. If I do, it’s thankfully usually empty. Not tonight though. There was a car and a truck parked at the front. And for a half a blink of an eye, I glanced something so sad that my stomach lurched with adrenaline and horror. The most beautiful brown and white cow in the waiting pen. Waiting, without knowing what was coming, for that “moment.”
I Know Why I Am Vegan
That was about two hours ago. She’ll be gone by now. Completely innocent and gone.
Generally, I try and make my articles have a little humor or sarcasm in them. So, forgive me if that’s not to be seen in this one. It feels different as I type.
Glancing at her made me shocked, angry and absolutely determined to do everything that I can for veganism.
So, if you’re reading this and are already vegan – I wish I could shake your hand or pat you on the back. Each and every-one of you.
If you’re reading this and you’re vegan-curious, go for it. Absolutely go for it. I and every other vegan just know that when you do, you will feel so glad that you did.
I hope this article doesn’t make you sad. I do hope it makes you feel determined too. We owe it to our children, the world and the animals to lead lives that are as healthy and cruelty-free as possible.
Go vegan. Stay vegan. For all of us.
