The No Makeup Look

Looking at the latest fashion magazines and images from the runways one thing seems to be clear: The clean “no makeup” look is here to stay!

Those of you who know my work know that I am not only a fan of natural beauty products but also of very natural and minimal makeup looks. I believe less is more in the beauty department, although, don’t get me wrong, I love to play with a little bit of color and also enjoy creating some dramatic editorial looks from time to time.

In this post, I want to share with you one of my all-time favorite minimal makeup looks with a little strobing involved. This look has been created with all toxin-free, cruelty-free & vegan makeup products.

The Skin

The right prep and base are key for this minimally beautiful look. Spritz your face with a hydrating mist, I currently love Jane Iredale D2o Mist. Then apply a high-quality moisturizer or hydrating primer, for example, Edible Beauty No.4 Vanilla Silk Hydrating Lotion, for a well-prepped skin.  A sheer foundation like Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals or Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation buffed into the skin with a soft foundation brush evens out skin without masking it.  A cream highlighter like Ere Perez Vanilla Highlighter applied to the cheekbones enhances the bone structure. For extra radiance try using Edible Beauty Luminous Angel Drops to be mixed in with your foundation. Use a completely translucent powder like Jane Iredale PureMatte only through the t-zone to keep excess shine at bay.

The Eyes

The secret to keeping the eyes ‘enhanced’ but not heavily made up, in your ‘no makeup’ look, is to start with hydrating the eye area. Edible Beauty Gold Rush Eye Balm is a real winner. Even out the eyelid with a hint of a tinted eye-primer or foundation. Apply a dab of clear gloss as a highlight in the inner corners or alternatively a shimmery light eyeshadow like Jane Iredale Eye Shere in Champagne Silk.

A nude eyeliner on the inner rim creates an open-eyed fresh look. Enhance your eyelashes by curling them and coating them with a natural effect mascara like Ere Perez Volumising Waterproof Mascara. It’s important to make sure you apply the mascara right on the roots of the lashes to give that framing effect and a luscious thick lash line.

The Color

The only color I used on this look focuses on the lips and cheeks. This is a very soft matte peach tone, which will enhance the skin tone. To create the soft focus hint of color, I recommend using the same product for lips & cheeks. The Beauty Archive from Sweden creates lovely high-quality color pots. Dabbing it on with fingers will create that subtle effortless chic.
