Jaden Smith Launches Vegan Sneakers In Collaboration With New Balance

Actor and rapper Jaden Smith has teamed up with shoe brand New Balance to create a pair of vegan sneakers.

The new shoes — called Vision Racer — are designed with sustainability in mind, and feature a vegan leather upper with a polyester base. Much of the shoe is made from recycled materials, and will first be available in the color of “Wavy Baby Blue.”

“An Iconic Change-Maker”

“As an iconic change-maker, Jaden exemplifies the New Balance brand philosophy of fearless independence,” said New Balance in a statement.

“His convention-defying work in fashion and music, coupled with his dedication to philanthropy and environmental awareness, speak to larger global issues and how they impact his generation.”

The sneakers will be on sale from July 24 for $150.

Jaden Smith & Veganism

The young star has been an advocate for veganism for a number of years.

He famously launched his own vegan food truck, and has used it to deliver free plant-based meals to people in need in Los Angeles.

In 2019, Smith’s parents — actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith — encouraged their son to swap his vegan diet for a vegetarian one.

The anxious parents were concerned Smith’s diet was making him ill, although by his own admission he simply wasn’t eating enough.
