Tesco To Launch Additional Vegan Christmas Options

Tesco is about to launch a selection of festive vegan Christmas options, including a range of pastry rolls.

The hugely popular vegan cauliflower wellington will again grace the shelves of the UK’s biggest supermarket chain. The turmeric-spiced cauliflower with butternut squash and flaky golden pastry-wrapped wellington is stuffed with minced mushrooms flavored with red wine, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

The popular grocery store will also be offering a vegan butternut squash entrée as one of their additional vegan Christmas options.

In addition to these, they will be offering Moroccan spiced cauliflower, sultana, and harissa rolls, roasted butternut rolls seasoned with spiced pearl barley and herbs, and katsu rolls featuring katsu curry vegetables and a katsu crumb topping.

While the entire range has yet to be revealed, customers have been excitedly guessing what else will be on the menu.

Popular guesses include the pecan and peanut roast served with maple-roasted root vegetables, vegetarian portobello Wellington, and a vegetarian nut roast with a mulled wine and cranberry glaze, which was featured on Tesco’s 2017 holiday menu.

Last year, before the holidays, Tesco appointed vegan chef Derek Sarno, creator of the supermarket’s “Wicked Kitchen” ready-meal range, as Director of Plant-Based Innovation to develop new product launches, including the holiday range.

In a statement, Sarno said, “Tesco’s Christmas campaign celebrates the many ways we come together at Christmas, and with the quality of vegetarian and vegan food now so good there may even be squabbles across the dinner table over who gets what.”

Tesco isn’t the only supermarket giant reportedly launching new vegan Christmas options ahead of the season; Asda has also revealed details of its new festive range.

The chain will be launching a plant-based chestnut roast, vegan chocolate caramel pots, a vegan pâté, and even a vegan cheeseboard with three different types of dairy-free cheese.

Tesco’s holiday vegan pastry range will be available in stores from November 12th.
