Vegan Bakery Raises Over $6,800 To Support Black Lives Matter Movement

Pie, Pie My Darling — a vegan bakery in Chicago — has raised more than $6,800 to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

The bakery participated in a global initiative by Bakers Against Racism to raise money for various charitable organizations that support Black Lives Matter.

As part of its fundraising efforts, Pie, Pie My Darling sold 200 heart-shaped cookies decorated with anti-racist slogans, and also baked three six-inch rainbow cakes as prizes for a raffle.

“Fighting For Justice And Equality”

“I decided to participate because I was really wanting to find a tangible way to be helpful during this time and was inspired by so many artists creating anti-racist art,” said Heather Bodine-Lederman, founder of Pie, Pie My Darling.

“Since baking is my medium, it just seemed like such a great way to send a clear anti-racist message, increase awareness, and raise funds for organizations that are fighting for justice and equality.”

Vegan Bakery Fundraising

The Bakers Against Racism campaign took place worldwide from June 15 to June 20.

“Everyone who wants to see radical change against systemic and structural racism,” was invited to take part in the initiative. Thousands of bakers participated, with the total amount raised to be announced soon.
