Del Taco to Roll out Tacos Featuring Beyond Meat in 580 Locations

With every passing day, the growth of plant-based meat is turning mainstream. The new addition to the uber-popularity is the fast food taco chain, Del Taco, which has announced the launch of tacos featuring the highly popular plant-based meat from Beyond Meat. Del Taco Announced the Launch of Tacos Featuring Beyond Meat

The taco chain is reportedly going to infuse the popular Beyond Meat’s pea-protein crumbles in their two new taco offering starting this April. The product will be made available in all 580 locations. No doubt these launches are heralding the potential of plant-based meat brands that are increasingly infiltrating the meat-based product markets. The new partnership between the two brands will bear two products, as mentioned by Food Navigator USA, and each new menu option will retail for $2.49.

Among the two new products, one will be vegetarian-friendly and the other suitable for vegans. First, the “Beyond Avocado Taco” will be a vegan preparation made with Del Taco’s iconic seasoning, Beyond Meat’s vegan crumbles, and dashes of diced tomatoes, avocado and lettuce, all in a taco shell. Second, the “Beyond Taco” will be the vegetarian iteration of the same. It will pack Beyond Meat’s plant-based crumbles, lettuce and diced tomatoes, just the cheddar cheese extra.

Beyond Meat is also offered as a replacement to traditional meat in many existing Del Taco preparations like burritos, nachos and fries, among others, according to the company. They told Food Navigator USA that they’ve worked hand-in-hand with Beyond Meat’s culinary team and the result is unlike any brand of plant-based meat’s preparation. When asked if the tacos will feature Beyond Meat’s frozen beefy crumbles as available in stores, their spokesperson said that there is a joint preparation between the two companies with Del Taco’s iconic seasoning which will only be available at Del Taco and no other stores.
