KFC Teams Up With Beyond Meat To Launch Vegan Fried Chicken At 50 Stores

by | July 17, 2020

KFC has teamed up with Beyond Meat to launch Beyond Fried Chicken at more than 50 stores in Southern California.

From July 20, select KFC locations in Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego, will sell the Beyond Fried Chicken while stocks last.

The plant-based nuggets will be on sale as a six or 12-piece combo meal, served with a side of fries and a drink, or as a six or 12-piece à la carte option plus dipping sauce.

“Exclusive Sneak Peek”

“Despite many imitations, the flavor of Kentucky Fried Chicken is one that has never been replicated, until Beyond Fried Chicken,” said Andrea Zahumensky, chief marketing officer of KFC US, in an email to Raise Vegan.

“We know the east coast loved it, so we thought we’d give those on the west coast a chance to tell us what they think in an exclusive sneak peek.”

Customers can head to KFC’s restaurant locator to find out which stores will be serving the plant-based chicken.

The plant-based meat is made to look, taste, and pull apart like a chicken breast, and is flavored with the same spices as KFC’s world-famous fried chicken.

The brands launched the meat alternative in the US for the first time last year with a test run in Atlanta. Stocks sold out in less than five hours, with more successful test runs in additional locations later taking place.

“Delicious Plant-Based Chicken”

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with KFC and bring Beyond Fried Chicken to Southern California,” said Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat, in an email to Raise Vegan.

“KFC is a true category leader and we are proud to be their partner of choice as they make delicious plant-based chicken more accessible to consumers.”
