My Favorite Cruelty Free Vegan Red Lipsticks

by | February 14, 2019

Do you love bright bold lipsticks? Here are my personal favorite cruelty free vegan red lipsticks that can be perfect for a Valentine’s Day dinner date.

Wearing red lipstick can seem a little daunting to some. It’s bright, and it’s loud, there’s no missing it. I feel like it screams confidence and sexiness. When I’m having a bad day, I’ll sometimes throw on a red lip, and it changes my mood. Feeling empowered and badass.

If there is one day of the year to do red lips, it’s Valentine’s Day. Whether you have a hot date with your love or a girly dinner planned with your best gal pals, wearing a red lip will make you hold your head up high and flick your hair with sexy confidence that you just don’t get from a nude.

It took me about ten years to find the right shade of red for my skin tone. I thought that I was just one of those unlucky girls who just didn’t suit red. I was so wrong, there is, in fact, a shade of red for every skin tone. Whether you choose to go bright or dark, glossy or matte, there are many, many reds out there for you to rock, like the badass, sexy, powerhouse of a woman that you are!

Here are three of my favorite cruelty free vegan red lipsticks.

KAT VON D

COLOR: Santa Sangre – poison apple
Satin finish

This is a stunning new, limited-edition Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick with collectible gold packaging in honor of Kat Von D Beauty’s 10-Year Anniversary. It’s very bright and long-lasting. Not to mention the packaging just screams rock-star glamour. This lipstick is paraben-free, vegan and cruelty-free. Available at Sephora.

PRETTY VULGAR

Bury Them With A Smile Matte Lipstick
$24.00
COLOR: Blood Flower – red
Matte finish

I absolutely love this full-coverage, long-lasting lipstick with a dreamy matte finish. It’s long lasting and won’t dry out your lips as it features hydrating butters. This lipstick if free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, vegan and cruelty-free. The packaging is just so girly and pretty. I had to have it. Available at Sephora.

MILK MAKEUP

Lip Color
COLOR: O.G. Red – neutral true red
Matte finish

Who doesn’t love Milk makeup? This demi-matte lip color is packed with pigment and hydrating ingredients. It has major pigment and bamboo-derived blurring powder combine for smooth application, full coverage, and all-day wear. This ultra-creamy lipstick is free of sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban. This product is also vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free. It has a new look with sleek, metal packaging and magnetic closure. Available at Sephora.

    Great recommendations Julie,

I haven’t tried any of these brands yet, but I love the look of the Milk lipsticks – I like that they put the shade name on the side instead of the bottom!

Just in case any vegans reading this can’t get their hands on one of these lipstick brands, try to look out for lipsticks without lanolin oil, carmine, or beeswax. For the vegans (or those prone to allergies), we actually recently posted a piece exposing some lipstick ingredients you may wish to avoid:

    Thanks again for these recommendations,

    Laura.
