Natural Ways To Control Anxiety During Pregnancy
As you’re awaiting the arrival of the newest member of your family, you may be feeling some anxiety, whether it’s your first or your fourth kid. It’s normal to be anxious and luckily, we have a few simple tricks on helping you cope. Here are five ways to naturally control your anxiety during pregnancy.
Yoga
Yoga is one of the most natural ways to help combat anxiety. Not only is it great for your mental health, but it is also a safe sport for pregnant women to engage in no matter how early or far along in your pregnancy you are. You can take a yoga course specifically designed for mothers-to-be, a flow class (if you’re early on), or you could even do follow-along yoga online through YouTube.
Pick-up a new hobby
Filling-up your time and staying occupied (especially if you’re on bed rest or maternity leave) is a great way to get your mind off of any anxieties you may be having about your pregnancy. Try picking-up a habit for either pleasure or productivity. One of my favorite hobbies is knitting because I can do it while I binge on my latest Netflix series. Try out some simple baby blanket patterns to have something made with love for your baby to be.
Join a mom-to-be squad
Trying to network with other moms-to-be can help you feel safe and relaxed in a judgement-free zone. Having a squad to group text about your woes as well as your little victories can motivate you to enjoy your pregnancy together with people who just get it.
Relaxing Teas
Certain teas are safe to have during pregnancy and can really help you relax. Some of those teas include chamomile (can fight insomnia), dandelion (has potassium), and ginger (can ease morning sickness and queasiness).
Focus on the future
Looking forward to the end result of your pregnancy (being able to finally hold your perfect little baby in your arms) can be great motivation in itself to keep your mind optimistic and less worrisome. Think about the little things, baby’s first words, first time meeting grandpa, first smile.
