Acne, Stretch Marks, And Hair Changes- 6 Body Changes During Pregnancy

First, let me clarify it for soon-to-be mommies, the idea is not to scare but to prepare you for certain unwelcome body changes during pregnancy.
Knowing what to expect ahead takes away half of the fear that accompanies pregnancy.
Pregnancy brings with it a lot of welcome and unwelcome changes. Your hormones act crazy as the body starts preparing itself for a new guest. Along with a growing belly expect a few other body changes during pregnancy, such as:
1. Stretch Marks
You might notice stretch marks on your belly, thighs, waist, hips, or buttocks. Generally, these stretch marks start forming right from the mid-stage of pregnancy and are fully developed by the later stages. A lot depends upon how quickly you gain weight and your genetic disposition towards stretch marks.
2. Dry and itchy skin
The sudden occurrence of dry and itchy skin isn’t unusual for pregnant women. You might constantly face the need to scratch your belly or feet.
There are also a few skin conditions associated with pregnancy, like Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy commonly known as PUPP, that cause dry and itchy skin rashes
3. Acne
Even if you never had acne as a teenager, there are chances you might develop some during pregnancy. These annoying zits are caused due to hormonal changes taking place inside your body during pregnancy.
4. Hair changes
Are you noticing the growth of hair in places they shouldn’t be in? And does this include unsightly hair growth on the face, chest, or belly?
Hormonal changes during pregnancy not only take a toll on the skin, but they might also cause changes in hair texture and growth too.
Your hair might feel thicker or grow faster during pregnancy. The good news is these changes last as long as pregnancy and post-birth your hair might return to its original state.
Just show some love and care to your lovely tresses during pregnancy and you won’t need to worry much later.
5. Melasma
The major skin trouble that the majority of pregnant women complain about is dark skin spots. These dark splotches can be melasma otherwise known as the mask of pregnancy.
Melasma generally shows up around the upper lip, corners of the mouth, nose, cheekbones, or forehead. One of the more ‘delightful’ body changes during pregnancy might occur.
6. Varicose veins
If you notice a web of fine purple or blue veins showing through your skin on your legs and thighs, it is varicose veins.
The red fine lines are spider veins and both are a common occurrence during pregnancy. However, they generally clear up as soon as your child is born.
