Canada Goose Developing Cruelty-Free Faux Fur

The Canadian winter clothes manufacturing company Canada Goose is rumored to be developing cruelty-free faux fur for its outerwear, according to a Canada Goose employee who revealed the news to a Canadian regional vegan activist.

Canada Goose Developing Cruelty-Free Faux Fur

A Canadian vegan activist has revealed to Vegconomist that the winter wear manufacturing company is in developmental stages of vegan fur for its outerwear. Jenny McQueen is a prolific vegan activist in Canada, working with organizations like Toronto Pig Save and Direct Action Everywhere.

Coincidentally, while attending a protest at Queens Street in Toronto’s west end, a young man approached her. The man was wearing a “pristine CG jacket” with no fur. While in conversation with the man and his partner about the garment, McQueen learned that the man was an employee of Canada Goose, and he revealed to her that the company was in developmental stages in working with cruelty-free faux fur.

“He and his wife stopped at a protest outside a Toronto butcher. I spotted he had a pristine CG coat on without the fur, asked his partner if he’d removed it, and she told me they sell without the fur, which I’m aware of,” McQueen told the Vegconomist.

“She then told me he works for CG,” said McQueen, and mentioned that the man confirmed the development of the faux fur to her. However, Vegconomist is yet to confirm and has contacted Canada Goose for an update.

The Horrors of Canada Goose Original Fur

PETA reports the horrendous methods used by the 62-year-old winter wear brand from Canada to make their iconic product. Its products come with the signature fur lining on hoods that is synonymous with the brand’s design.

According to PETA, the wild furry mammals are killed using a variety of shocking methods like metal leg-clamps, body-gripping traps, and neck-snares, among others. And what’s more heart-wrenching, most of the trapped and skinned animals are mother coyotes who are on their way to starving pups. They’re caught and it is reported that the animals even try to bite off their own limbs in order to escape the trap. Geese and ducks are also killed mercilessly in large numbers by their suppliers for jacket filling.
