Chatting With The Multi-Function Vegan Diaper Backpack Creator Brittany

Raise Vegan recently had the chance to try out the innovative new vegan diaper bag from DelniceBrand. This exciting bag is not only vegan and cruelty-free, but it addresses all the needs parents of today want to be met. There is an insulated pouch to keep bottles warm or cool, a lined area to keep soiled or wet clothes separate from the rest of your child’s items, and a secret compartment to keep mom or dad’s wallet and keys safe, to name a few. This diaper bag has also won critical acclaim from the LGBTQ+ community for being gender neutral and fashion-forward enough for all parents to confidently carry.

We had the opportunity to chat with Brittany Houde, the creator of the DelniceBrand backpack diaper bag and to gain some insight into the inspiration behind the brand and their product. Read on to learn more!

RV: When/Where was DelniceBrand founded?

BH: DelniceBrand was founded and operates out of Victoria, Canada. I live full time with my spouse, we have nine chickens and two crazy bulldogs that we love! When I founded the brand, my instinct was to incorporate an animal-friendly initiative. 

RV: What is the inspiration behind your brand?

BH: I really wanted to do my part to bring increased awareness to the vegan initiative. I wanted to create a custom-craft west coast diaper and bottle holder backpack that would become the new essential among parents. I wanted to ensure this backpack suited both mom and dad in a versatile way without compromising size or durability.

RV: What is the Company’s history?

BH: The brand Delnice was created when I was visiting a friend in the small town of Delnice, Croatia. I was inspired by the town’s simplistic elegance and decided to create my own brand and I adopted the name. While I was traveling, I noticed how crucial it was to have functional and high-quality travel items, especially for parents. I began the process of starting my own company with my father-in-law; he was very inspiring and encouraged me to jump in with both feet; he really nurtured the creative process. I began by researching and designing; I went through numerous samples until I felt the Delnice backpack was perfect.

RV: Who is your target market?

BH: This backpack fills the gap of the active, unisex target market. It is large enough to be worn by a man but cute and versatile enough to be used by mom. We have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the vegan and LGBTQ+ modern parents’ community.

RV: The vegan diaper bag backpack is truly amazing. How were you able to combine elegance and functionality to create a bag for all parents?

BH: I had many requirements for the design process and final product. I wanted to ensure all materials used were vegan, and it took many sleepless nights and hours ensuring my designs were versatile and perfect. I love the grey exterior color and feel it is a neutral color that will go with anything. Unisex quality and durability combined with the faux leather vegan pull really provide a custom west coast vibe which I hope everyone will love!

RV: What is your favorite thing about the diaper bag?

BH: My favorite thing is the padded straps and padding in the center of the backpack to ensure that when you are traveling, it feels comfortable on your back. We built this with specific pressure points in mind, to alleviate shoulder tension so when you are on the go with your family or busy toddler, you can be worry-free.

RV: What is your personal vegan evolution story? How did you come to the lifestyle?

BH: I have been an animal lover my entire life; I had to push back on my parents – when I was younger I would sit at the dinner table and refuse to eat meat – but it wasn’t until I was about 18 when I really could decide for myself, say no, and feel confident about my choices. Nowadays, vegan products have exploded across all industries, which is amazing because now deciding to be a vegan is an easier choice with so many products readily available!

RV: What do you think are the biggest strengths of the vegan movement? Weaknesses?

BH: I am so proud of the vegan community and cannot say enough wonderful things. I am doing my small part, but those who are entrepreneurs and standing up for what they believe are so incredibly motivating to me. I can’t say thank you enough, to all the women, who have started a vegan brand before me, because they paved the way for me, and lead by example. 

The Biggest strengths: Everyone involved in the vegan community has done an amazing job to bring awareness to the forefront of people’s minds. The weaknesses are the unfortunate reality of those industries that exploit animals still exist today for consumption or other uses. We can’t take on the world by ourselves. All we can do is join forces to make our profound footprint even larger.

RV: What does the future of veganism look like to you?

BH: The future is ever expanding! Our vision is to expand with more vegan and baby related accessories and products from Delnice. I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish together in the next 5 to 10 years.

RV: How do you effectively communicate your vegan mission?

BH: The development of my product has been the most rewarding thing for me. I wanted to create a product that single-handedly changed the course of peoples lives for the better on a worldwide scale. It has been a whirlwind year for me, I have met and created relationships with people within the vegan community who I will never forget; who have become an extension of the family. We want to grow the DelniceMovement to assist and expand the vegan mission overall. Also a massive thank you to Raise Vegan magazine and all their work and compassion!
