DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences Launches Superior Plant-Based System for Meat Alternative Staples
The company’s new launch called the GRINDSTED® PLANT-TEX system is a superior egg-white replacement system, the company mentioned in its press release. The system, alongside improving taste and texture, will also add to the development of a meat-alternative product’s other aspects, like enhancing the juiciness, maintaining of shape, giving snappiness in bites and the like. As of now, the systems will be reportedly launched only in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with plans to extend the offering globally in 2020.
The three systems, namely- GRINDSTED® PLANT-TEX MA1201, PLANT-TEX MA1301, and PLANT-TEX MA1110 are meant for staple plant-based meat products like a burger patty, cooked sausages, and cold cuts respectively. And as the branding has it, the ‘PLANT-TEX’ meat alternative systems are free from any animal-products alongside being allergy-free and sans cholesterol.
Enhancing Everyway
The company’s GRINDSTED® PLANT-TEX MA1201 is meant to enhance the taste, texture, juiciness, umami flavor, and increase the protein content in meatballs and burger patties. In the same way, the PLANT-TEX MA1301, which is meant for cooked sausages will ensure superior shape retention, and notably, give the ‘snappy’ bite of cooked sausages, irrespective of the same is cooked or cold. Last, but certainly not the least, the PLANT-TEX MA1110, which is meant for cold cuts will help vegan deli ham with ‘authentic taste and texture,’ according to the company in its press release.
DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences’ Regional Product Manager Europe, Elisa Vimercati stated that the three DuPoint systems will ‘definitely’ help customers ‘meet and exceed’ the quality and taste expectations. Vimercati added- “We are proud to push the boundaries for high-quality, plant-based solutions for meat alternatives. PLANT-TEX delivers best-in-class results for taste and texture.”
DuPont’s Global Business Development Manager, Linda Yvonne Friis told that their systems are easy to use, can be directly put into the mix and would make both the production and formulating process easier.
On the Rise
Plant-based meat alternative solutions are not only in a steep rise amongst vegans, but people from every walk of life are also preferring them, thanks to the health and environmental perks. Therefore, consequently, the meat-alternative business is booming. According to Google Search, between 2012 and 2017, the vegan trend quadrupled, according to the Vegan Society. And therefore understandably, with enhancing options like this PLANT-TEX system will only help in drawing more people to plant-based eating.
