A Facebook post on a group called  “Chicken and licking day.,. 21st March”  shared an image by of an unidentified user, who snapped a picture after swapping labels of vegetarian and beef Lasagne at British supermarket TESCO, “just for fun.” And people were reasonably furious at the insensible prank of the doer. Tesco has declared they’re investigating the situation. Keep reading to find out more.

A person posted a picture of packaged beef and veg lasagne lying on TESCO shelf, and in the caption wrote that some mornings “I like to pop in to Tesco and switch the cardboard sleeve around on these just for fun.” Whereas the post was shared by an unknown and unnamed person, Chicken and licking….group on Facebook shared the post captioning “Absolute legend” to the utterly distasteful act of swapping labels on meat and vegetarian products.

“A reaaaaally low bar for legend status”

The post, since published, has drawn some 6.7k comments, and 7.7k shares, as of this date. People criticized the deed, and vegans and vegetarian users pointed out the potential moral, health and psychological hazards associated with the label swapping at such a level.

One user wrote “This is awful, you could kill someone with allergies? My friend is allergic to enzymes in the meat. This is genuinely sickening 😷.”

Another commented, “Not only could you ruin someone’s day you could literally kill someone with certain allergies…”

One user pointed out “Some of you have a reaaaaally low bar for legend status.”

And the other user shared an incident of a girl dying of peanut allergy after she ate food containing peanuts. The user questioned, “so this is hilarious?”

One user, who isn’t a vegan requested never to swap labels of vegan things. The person wrote “I eat meat but I cannot have milk or I’ll be very very ill and this terrifying me now 😭😭.”

Whereas some people might derive pleasure in doing stuff like relabeling vegan and veggie foods with meat-based ones, they must be advised that at times such pranks can literally put people’s lives at stake. According to The Sun, a TESCO spokesperson confirmed that they’re “aware of this Facebook post,” and are “monitoring the situation.”
