Taking a bath is the ultimate relaxing experience- it’s a great way to de stress and unwind after a long day at work or after being out and about. What’s really stressful? Being pregnant. You may have heard mixed stories on whether or not it’s safe to take a bath during a pregnancy but we’re here to tell you the truth. Yes, it is safe! (As long as you watch out for a few things, that is…) Here is your simple guide to taking a bath while pregnant.

Watch the Temperature

One of the most important things to be wary of while taking a bath during your pregnancy is the temperature of the water. Like jacuzzis, boiling hot baths are dubbed as potentially hazardous for your unborn child. You want to ensure that the water temperature is not greater than your body temperature, so 98.6 degrees or below is safe. Stick to warm instead of hot water to be safe, especially during your third trimester.

To Bath Bomb or Not to Bath Bomb?

Typically, when used correctly, bath bombs may be safe to use during pregnancy. It is important to carefully read the ingredients in any bath bomb you try (pregnant or not) and to watch out for any possible irritating ingredients. The main concern when it comes to being cautious with them is the improper use of essential oils, which isn’t a problem with rentals made bath bombs. What Goes In Must Come Out?

So, you got inside the tub just fine but you may have overlooked the part when you come out. The last thing you want to do is be bath-ridden or hurt yourself while trying to emerge from what should be a relaxing experience from start to finish. It helps if you have a shower mat already set up in the bath before running any water so that you have a slip-proof surface to stand up on. Drain the the water before getting out of the tub and make sure that you have an additional shower mat on the ground so that you have a dry and safe surface to step on to. If regaining balance isn’t working out, don’t be afraid to call your husband for help or worst case, to phone a trusted neighbor.
