Vegan Lucy Watson Grills Turkey Farmer on Live TV

Reality TV celebrity and vegan Lucy Watson passionately debated a farmer over what he meant by ‘humane slaughter’ on UK morning TV show This Morning.

Vegan Lucy Watson Grills Turkey Farmer

The former Made in Chelsea star appeared on the show alongside farmer Mat Carter from Devon, who made headlines last month when he offered people the opportunity to name and feed their turkeys, before the animals were slaughtered.

On This Morning, Lucy started questioning Matt after he spoke of his farms ‘ethical’ practices.
Lucy asked ‘What do you mean by ethical exactly?’, to which Matt answered, ‘Being well looked after, they’re free-range, they’re slaughtered humanely, and looked after in the best way possible’

Lucy then asked what exactly was humane slaughter? Carter told her that the birds were killed in the most stress-free way possible. Then finally admitting after more questioning from Lucy that they’re throats were slit.

On the show, Lucy Watson told Philip Schofield that she thought Matt’s offer to let customers name and look after their Christmas turkeys was ‘psychotic at first’, because it was ‘treating them like pets’.

She went on to say that while she obviously disagrees with the killing of animals full-stop, in a way she thinks it’s good, because she wants people to have a connection with animals.

‘They have souls, they feel pain, they’re gentle creatures that mean no harm to us.’

Carter said he has received death threats from vegans, who have called him psychotic and a murderer. His farm has been vandalized, with the words ‘Murder! Go vegan’ painted on the front doors of the farm and dead birds were sprayed with blue paint. Some of his staff have been targeted on social media. Carter also says the his sales have doubled with all of the media attention.
