Vegan Sausage Roll launched by Tesco to Compete with Greggs

After the much hyped-up launch (thanks to Piers Morgan’s nearly vomiting and the controversial publicity) of any vegan sausage roll ever (like literally) by Greggs a few months back, now it is time for Tesco’s launch of the same product, competing with the now iconic sausage rolls from the British High Street bakery. TESCO launches Vegan Sausage Roll to Keep up With Greggs

The British supermarket/ grocery chain Tesco has decided not to fall any behind. They’ve launched their version of plant-based sausage rolls, as reported by the Metro, UK. Tesco’s launch comes after Greggs’ plant-based rolls swept the market for some times now.

The Tesco made sausage roll is totally meat-free and so is dairy, implying it is vegan. Their version of plant-based sausage roll uses puff pastry in the outer shell that is filled with a soy-based sausage seasoned in Lincolnshire-style with onion and sage. You can get your hands on one from the in-store Tesco bakeries that had gone on sale since Easter Monday bearing a tag cheaper by 75p than the uber-popular Greggs sausage rolls.

Vegan is the Future

You can identify any fast-food or frozen food retailer of your choice, and guaranteed most of them have either launched their own vegan versions of popular products or are somewhere on their way to do the same. These imply the overwhelming demand for plant-based and dairy-free alternatives in the market.
