Top Vegan Super Foods For 2018

Will 2018 be the year of the vegans? Here’s our list of the top vegan superfoods for the New Year

One of the things we all recognize about the new year is that age-old saying ‘New Year, New Me’. With the rise of veganism thanks to things like Veganuary, ‘No Meat Mondays’, and the countless documentaries available we thought it would be a good idea to put together a list of the best ‘vegan super foods’ for 2018.

So here goes!

Avocados

No, they’re not just for millennials or Instagram stars who like to sit on the beach in California.

Avocados are high in good fats that help to lower cholesterol and contain potassium and folate which help to reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks.

They are so versatile and you can make so many great things with them, from Basic Avocado Toast to using them as a topping for salads, tacos, and even in smoothies. So they can definitely be considered one of the vegan superfoods.

Beans

Beans are an excellent source of protein and fiber. Say that to the next person who asks you Where Do Vegans Get Their Protein!

They also contain potassium and folate which contribute to heart health and are also essential for pregnant mamas.

They can be used in so many ways and recipes, with everything from curries, soups, or just a simple hummus.

Blueberries

This little blueberry is filled with antioxidants called flavonoids that help lower the risk of heart disease, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer’s.

They are so versatile you can add them to almost anything for a healthy little boost. Try them in oatmeal, smoothies, on top of pancakes, mixed into soy yogurt, or even just as a snack straight out of the packet.

Sweet Potatoes

Despite the name, this vegetable is actually closer to carrots than potatoes. They are packed full of beta-carotene, as suggested by their orange color.

This is good for promoting healthy eyes, skin, and heart health. Sweet potatoes are the perfect vegetable for any time of year, and you can use them in so many ways.

They can be used to make so many meals, from Sweet Potato And Chickpea Wraps to hearty, filling soups.
