No matter your favorite way to get your body moving, getting in an adequate amount of protein after your gym session is what will fuel your muscles to keep you strong.

Are you a busy mom that needs something just a little bit more filling after a workout than a protein shake? You can easily make a smoothie that will hold you over until you are able to find time to sit down for your next meal. The best part? Most of these ingredients you probably already have at home. Even better news! You can portion out all of the ingredients the night before for easy preparation 5 minutes after your workout. Keep reading to see how you can have a post-workout meal on-the-go with this recipe for a protein-packed, post workout vegan smoothie that is sure to keep you satisfied.

Protein-Packed Post Workout Vegan Smoothie

(Serves 1)

Ingredients:

  • 1 serving of vegan protein powder, this recipe works with a chocolate, vanilla, or coffee flavored powder (I love Vega Sport)
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 cup cold brew coffee (iced black coffee also works)
  • 1 tbsp all-natural peanut butter (check out our recipe for easy homemade peanut butter here)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp maca powder
  • 1/2 tbsp pumpkin seed powder*
  • 1/2 cup ice

*Did you know that pumpkin seeds are packed full of protein? Per 100 grams of pumpkin seeds, there are 19 grams of protein!

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until you have an evenly-blended smoothie. Add more almond milk if needed to achieve desired consistency. (You can also use less almond milk to turn this into a smoothie bowl which you could top with your favorite nuts, seeds, and dried fruits)
  2. Enjoy in a reusable tumbler with a thick stainless steel straw for an on-the-go meal.
