Vegan on Game Day
Super Bowl 2018 – Game Day for Vegans
Every year in America, parties are thrown across the country, as everyone gathers around the TV or at the Stadium itself, to watch Football! Unfortunately for the animals that have been farmed for human consumption, this tradition incorporates eating mass amounts of animal products in this one day. From food such as bbq wings, pigs in a blanket, nachos, sliders to the beers (processed through animal gut), game day is almost as bad as Thanksgiving. Plus factoring in the skin for the ball itself (which is 3000 cows lives taken for just the actual football- not factoring in equipment such as cleats).
The official report from the National Chicken Council from last year estimated that Americans would consume 1.3 billion chicken wings during Super Bowl 50—that’s 162.5 million pounds of wings. In a single day, for only one small food aspect of the Super Bowl, over 600 million chickens will be slaughtered. Now put in perspective the other animals, the pigs in hot dogs and popular pulled pork sliders, the cows meat in tacos and dip, plus ribs, and burgers… then all of the cheese. The Super Bowl is no party for animals.
Game Day Alternatives
To save the lives of countless animals, we urge all people, not just vegans to swap out even one of the traditional dishes for our vegan alternatives. It’s incredible how easy it is to recreate recipes but using 100% Plant Based sources. No need to worry about protein, and certainly no reason to worry about saturated fat or cholesterol. More benefits of these vegan alternatives include avoiding the processed meats that have been declared as cancer causing as smoking cigarettes.
